    Overview

    Spry Methods is actively seeking a Lead DevOps Automation Engineer to join our team and support development efforts for a government client in Fort Collins, CO.

    The USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS) is an effort of Federal and State agencies, universities, and professional societies to deliver science-based information to land owners. Join us to build the technology to help people understand, preserve and increase the productivity of our natural resources.

    Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

    The successful candidate will be leading an effort to implement automation to support continuous integration and continuous delivery for a software development operation for a federal client. The software development operation supports approximately 80 applications across multiple platforms, predominately Microsoft .NET web applications on VMs within a federal data center environment. The client intends to migrate to the cloud within the next few years.

    • Responsible for implementing new capabilities, extending and administering existing capabilities for:
      • Automated build and deploy
      • Automated database migrations
      • Static code analysis and scanning
      • Automated smoke, functional, and regression testing
      • Configuration management
      • Infrastructure automation
    • Administering VMs (Microsoft and RHEL) in DEV and TEST environments
    • Providing architectural guidance to enhance DevOps practices
    • Providing cloud (AWS or Azure) expertise to support future migration efforts
    • Oversee and lead additional DevOps and system engineer staff

    Required skills and experience include

    • Four-year technical degree such as Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or Engineering; or 4 years of advanced system engineer experience
    • Demonstrated proficiency implementing CI/CD in Microsoft environments
    • Superb scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Python, or comparable)
    • Demonstrated proficiency implementing and administering:
      • Team Foundation Server (automation capabilities)
      • Jenkins
      • SonarQube
      • GIT, SVN
      • IBM AppScan
      • Compliance Sheriff
      • Nexus
      • Selenium
      • JIRA
      • Ansible
    • Execute standard procedures with a high degree of quality
    • Must have excellent inter-personal skills to be a superb teammate, and ability to contribute to a high-performing team
    • Document and communicate complex information well using MS Office

    Preferred skills

    • Experience working within Visual Studio
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Data Tools
    • Experience with database migration automation in support of a continuous integration, continuous delivery model
