    Spry Methdos is seeking a Technical Writer to support our cusomter in Washington, DC.

    Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

    • Identify and understand the needs of the end user/consumer of the technical documentation to be developed
    • Develop drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding of the subject matter
    • Study and produce product samples and collaborate with product designers and developers
    • Work with technical staff to capture and accurately document/depict the subject matter
    • Organize and write supporting documents for technical products
    • Produce artifacts supporting product evaluation recommendations, turn key system solutions, product assessments, and documentation suites
    • Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
    • Standardize content across platforms and media including maintaining Drupal websites and blogs
    • Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and developers
    • Revise documents as needed

    Required skills and experience include

    • Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain and maintain a CI Poly
    • 5+ years as a senior Technical Writer in support of the development of complex technical applications and systems
    • A clear understanding and working knowledge of the Document Development Life Cycle (DDLC)
    • A clear understanding and working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
    • A clear understanding and working knowledge of Enterprise Change and Configuration Management (ECCM)
    • Ability to write clear and concise technical documents
    • Knowledge of agile software development principles, basic cloud computing concepts, and other emerging technologies
    • Comfortable communicating and working with highly technical teams
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Excellent planning and organization skills
    • Writing skills, experience with hardware and software engineering documentation. Must have experience and knowledge fully authoring:
      • Test Plans
      • Enterprise Architecture and Detailed Design (to include technical, information/data, business, application and security architecture views)
      • Software Configuration Management Plan
      • System Administration Plan (not a User’s Guide)
    • Tool skills such as Adobe FrameMaker, MS Office suite, Interleaf or Robihelp, SharePoint or DocuShare, drawing application such as Photoshop Roxio, Visio
    • Interviewing and listening skills
      • Technical writers need to know how to ask questions. They also need to know who the best person is to approach, and they need to have a feel for the varying personalities and preferences of the people – the subject matter experts, or SMEs – in order to know how best to approach them.
      • Once the technical writer has found the appropriate SME to approach, strong listening skills will be required to capture the information necessary and to know which follow-up questions need to be answered.
    • Data analysis and problem-solving skills
