    The candidates will provide security engineering services identifying and implementing system security, offering security guidance and recommendations, engineering support for certification and accreditation, ensuring that security considerations are built into infrastructure and applications, performing daily tasks of vulnerability scans across a multitude of networked or stand-alone systems. In a vulnerability assessment role serves as the central coordination point for all network system vulnerability assessments, audits, and related studies conducted in the agency environment. 

    Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

    The candidate must be familiar with networks and systems, vulnerability assessment tools, to include OS and Web Application tools. Should have experience performing front line triage, routing and tracking of security related incidents, events, inquiries, and a variety of other security related issues; working with Engineers, Developers and fellow Information Security colleagues to maintain information security posture at the customer site; and developing and implementing security policies and solutions to mitigate risks and enhance system security.

    • Assists with vulnerability assessments on mission-critical resources
    • Works with CSO, AO, CIO, and IT Security Advisor on all IT audits including user audits
    • Works with CIO, and IT Security to develop and implement IT Security procedures
    • Enforces security policy and procedures
    • Reviews IPS logs, audit logs (system/application) weekly
    • Reviews any reported vulnerability from TSC system administrators, Federal and International bodies for applicability in the TSC environment
    • Provides infrastructure support, including troubleshooting infrastructure and administration issues
    • Performs all aspect of security administration to include but not limited to Intrusion Prevention System analysis of possible threats identified during monitoring
    • Assists with complex problem solving and design level interaction such as patch management and coverage during releases
    • Provides assistance with Incident Response in the areas of enterprise malware prevention and data spills
    • Provides backup coverage for the Security Administrator and ISSO

    Required skills and experience include

    • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
    • At least one of the following: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH v7)
    • Work with engineers to perform compliance assessments, quarterly vulnerability scans, and analysis of scans of FISMA enterprise systems as well as non-FISMA systems and applications

    Preferred skills

    • Security+, Microsoft Certified Professional, ITIL v.3, Network+
    • Tenable Nessus®, SecurityCenter®, SecurityCenter Continuous View®
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the proven ability to present complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Solid organizational skills and strong customer service skills
    • Proven to be proficient in system administration, security administration, vulnerability assessment, or related technologies
