Spry Methods is seeking a junior Privacy Act Specialist to support the Department of Interior (DOI) and the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians (OST) in Albuquerque, NM.

Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

  • Support the development and completion of Privacy Threshold Analyses (PTAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
  • Coordinate or develop operational processes for privacy compliance
  • Research and identify relevant data privacy and information security practices associated with complex business processes; create and recommend corrective recommendations and actions
  • Develop and manage multiple assessment reports
  • Create, update, and edit privacy-related directives, policies and guidance
  • Maintain productive professional relationship with the client’s IT security and privacy staff, business process owners, and other divisional staff

Required skills and experience include

  • A degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science or other related discipline (preferred)
  • At least one (1) year of general experience in reviewing, auditing, and risk-based assessment of systems and business processes for privacy and/or information security related issues at progressively increasing levels of responsibility
  • At least three (3) years of specialized experience in Privacy directly related to the interpretation and application of the requirements/mandates stipulated in the Privacy Act of 1974, the E-Gov Act of 2002, and pertinent OMB guidance, including the development and conduct of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), the development and publication of System of Records Notices (SORNs) and Privacy Act Statements, responding to incidents related to the breach of PII, and user awareness activities focusing on Privacy
  • Experience in the application of computer technology, requirements definition, systems analysis, computer programming, testing, or quality assurance activities
  • Experience in data privacy issues in federal government environment
  • Public Trust clearable

Preferred skills

  • CIPP or CIPP/G certification is highly desired
