Overview

Spry Methods, Inc. is actively seeking a Rational Support Specialist / Jazz Expert to join our team and support development efforts for a government client in Fort Collins, CO.

Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

  • Provide Rational support during product definition, testing, integration, and maintenance
  • Support and perform administrative tasks for Rational tools
  • Define data and application integration requirements
  • Configure Rational tools to meet specifications and requirements
  • Integrate IBM Rational development support tools with each other and with other development tools
  • Demonstrate ability for automation of processes using scripting and leveraging Rational APIs
  • Demonstrate success in the development and maintenance of Rational Tool Suite installation and process documentation
  • Have experience using the Rational test tools such as Rational Test Workbench to perform test automation
  • Have experience working in a software engineering environment using formal Quality Assurance principles and practices
  • Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust

Required skills and experience include

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or similar discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years working with Rational CLM Tools in an enterprise environment
  • A minimum of 3 years working with IBM WebSphere Application Server
  • Demonstrated experience with the administration and management of the Rational Tool Suite (Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager, Rational Requirements Composer, Build Forge, Rational Publishing Engine, and Door’s Next Generation)
  • Demonstrated experience with the administration and management of the Rational Test Tool Suite (IBM Rational Quality Manager Quality, IBM Rational Test Workbench, IBM Rational Performance Test Pack, and IBM Rational Functional Tester)
  • Experience with Configuration Management and CMDB management
  • Experience with full implementation of the Rational Tool Suite from installation to a fully functional configured system
  • Experience using the Rational test tools (Rational Test Workbench and Quality Manager)
  • Full understanding of leveraging tools with in a SDLC
  • Experience working within a software engineering environment and first-hand experience using the Rational tools for software validation – Test Automation a plus)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Function well in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong ability to document processes and procedures and perform user training when needed
  • Candidates for this position may be asked to complete a short "take home test" that consists of actual work encountered in this environment

Preferred skills

  • A proven track record of proactively identifying and solving problems
  • Familiarity with IT-related artifacts, such as architecture diagrams, use cases, activity diagrams, etc.
  • Self-driven and independently committed
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.
